Wound Therapy
Auxano Biomedical provides advanced granulation and re-epithelialization therapeutic products that promote complete wound closure.
Chronic wound care represents a significant unmet medical need as typical treatment involves wound dressings and antibiotics meant to promote an environment conducive to the body’s healing of the wound. These therapies, however, do not directly affect the ability of the epithelium to attach to the underlying stroma—a process critical to wound closure and healing. The resulting chronic wound environment requires a conductor to direct the elements to regained harmony.
Auxano Biomedical has developed SP-1, a therapeutic agent, which promotes wound healing through cell growth and migration of key cell types involved in both dermal and ophthalmic wounds. SP-1 is known to activate and synergize growth factors and related pathways. Its pleiotropic affects orchestrate many biological pathways, allowing an independent course of treatment and serves as an enhancement to other therapies.
This proprietary therapeutic agent, SP-1, has most recently been evaluated in an open wound model in which nerve and tissue were mechanically damaged. In less than a week, the SP-1 treated wounds had a statistically significant average decrease in size compared to control wounds. These results indicate the potential of SP-1 as an agent for rapid wound healing.
